Horizontal spinning equipment compared to vertical spinning, which way is more reasonable?

The electrospinning process has gained a lot of attention over the past decade, not only because of its versatility in spinning a wide range of polymer fibers, but also because of its ability to consistently produce fibers in the nanometer/micron range. Electrospinning is the production of microfibers from polymer solution or melt by electrostatic force. It has the characteristics of high porosity, high specific surface area and adjustable structure.

Electrospinning system consists of three main components: high voltage power supply, spinneret and collector. At present, there are two standard electrostatic spinning devices, namely horizontal electrostatic spinning device and vertical electrostatic spinning device. In a horizontal electrospinning device, the injection pump is placed parallel to the ground and the collector is placed perpendicular to the ground. Since the resultant electric field vector is parallel to the ground, this structure is called horizontal spinneret. In a vertical electrospinning device, the injection pump is placed perpendicular to the ground and the collector is placed parallel to the ground. When the resultant electric field vector is perpendicular to the ground, it is called vertical electrospinning structure.

In a horizontal electrospinning device, as the electric field vector is parallel to the ground, the polymer droplet tends to have ejection motion as the voltage increases. When electrospinning begins, even though the Taylor cone is pointing upwards, the fibers can be observed to collect downward in a projectile motion. Thus, Rodoplu and Mutlu1 report that the gravitational force affecting the polymer is negligible compared to the force applied by the electric field, and although it has an effect on the shape of the polymer droplet and Taylor cone, there are few studies on the significant effect of different orientation Settings on the nanofiber microstructure.

Although horizontal and vertical spinneretting methods are similar, some researchers have suggested that horizontal systems are sometimes preferable, 2 because the possibility of collecting imperfect products is reduced in horizontal electrospinning devices. For example, spraying from top to bottom can cause droplets to splash or drop onto the collector, affecting the finished product. Horizontal spinning, even if there is a splash, will not fall on the sample. Therefore, all the spinning equipment of Yongkang Leye is to choose the horizontal spinning mode, the direction of spinning is from right to left, and even if there is a droplet accumulation and sputtering in the middle, it will not pollute the product on the receiver.
